I've read various emails and faqs and concluded that Microsoft has refused to provide Outlook.com/Hotmail Activesync for Mac - even using Outlook 2011 doesn't help. Windows allows easy access to Hotmail Activesync albeit via an Outlook plugin for Office.
2018-10-8 One of the conclusions I had come to was that it was a licensing issue. I had no other explanation for why it would work on iPhone and not OS X and it is good to have this confirmed. At least it shows that it is Microsoft being greedy and not a fault on Apple's side. This article describes how to set up your Microsoft Exchange 2010 email account with Mac Mail. Note: Exchange 2010 runs only on Mac OS X version 10.6 or later. If you’re unsure about which OS X version you’re running, click the Apple icon located in the top-left corner and select About This Mac. Open Mac Mail and select Mail Preferences. I recently switched to a Mac and was wondering if anyone knew the alternative to Microsoft ActiveSync on Mac OS X. I did a brief search and came up with information about Microsoft Entourage which I do have on my Mac and was just wondering if anyone has experience with this? If I plug my Tilt right into my Mac, will Entourage pick it up or what?
There's no Mac email client that supports Activesync on Hotmail/Outlook.com. Mac Outlook does not support the WIndows Outlook plugin functionality.
2020-3-19 Exchange ActiveSync for Mac OSX. A Microsoft representative with regard to whether this feature will ever be available for the home user who chooses a MAC OS, but prefers Microsoft's email, contact and calendaring system. Thank you, Kevin. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
I need push Hotmail and I can't use IMAP (tens of thousands of emails since 1997 would be synced and this is just stupid).
I'm convinced by M$'s argument that Activesync is the way to go, it's the best by far and so on.
Currently then I have an Android phone for my main email account (Hotmail) which is just silly.
The only workaround I have found - which is even more stupid than relying on a phone instead of a PC - is to use an Android emulator to run an Android Hotmail Activesync capable email client. 😮
It works - kind of - but it just isn't good to use. Bluestacks is too bugged to use and the others are really aimed at developers.
Microsoft Activesync Win 10
Can someone not create a Mac email client that is able to negotiate a connection with s.outlook.com ?
Btw, is it not hypocritical of M$ to criticise Google for abolishing EAS in Gmail when M$ has never offered this service for anything other than Android, iOS and Windows devices?
Does anyone have a sensible workaround for this?
